Rancho Palos Verdes Beach

Rancho Palos Verdes Beach is located below Trump National Golf Course at Palos Verdes Drive S and Trump National Drive. Follow Trump National Drive towards the ocean and park for free in the first little lot that has a sign that says "No Golf Course parking". This is the lot for Founders Park visitors. You can head toward the trail head that says Beach Access. You will head down to the park across the golf cart access way on a paved path. Go through the park to the paved path that runs parallel to the beach - Catalina Trail. Beach access is available by heading either right or left along Catalina Trail. The trails are steep, so be aware of how much effort it will take to climb back up.

The Catalina Trail is worth walking along for a short distance or further down to Ocean Trails Reserve and join with other trails that can take you as far South as near White Point in San Pedro. The views of the ocean are gorgeous and the cool breezes are wonderful. Many people come here to run or walk this trail and get some exercise along this great path on weekends and afternoons.

The trails to the beach are very well kept. There is fencing along the side and the trails are very evenly graded. The picture below shows the easier trail to the left when get to the paved Catalina Trail. It is not quite as steep as the other trail, accessible by turning right when you get to Catalina Trail.

Rancho Palos Verdes Beach is a long stretch that starts out a bit rocky and gets sandier as you walk to the Northern end. There are lifeguard towers, but there are no concessions nearby. The restrooms at the Golf Course Country Club are available to the public as is the restaurant - the prices are pretty steep, after all, it is a golf course. There are no restrooms on the beach.
