Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach is famous for holding volleyball tournaments and surfing competitions. There is a long pier where you can fish without a license or just stroll along it and enjoy the ocean breeze and views of the beach. The Strand through Hermosa is a "walk only" zone (if you are bicycling, even on the beach path, you must walk-Hermosa PD make a great deal of money for the city by ticketing you). There are several restaurants and taverns along the boardwalk here where Pier Avenue meets the Strand. Parking in Hermosa is "Pay By Space" using a parking meter. There are lots at 11th Street & Hermosa Avenue and in the Downtown Parking Structure at 13th & Hermosa Avenue for $1.25 per hour. There is also plenty of metered street parking available along Hermosa Avenue along the median or either side of the street. The meters accept coins and credit or debit cards.

It is easier to get around Hermosa Beach by bike or roller blades than by car. Hermosa Avenue has a bike lane that runs from the Manhattan Beach section of the Bike Path to 24th Street. The bike beach path is also an alternate way to get around Hermosa, too. Bring bike locks with you so you can walk around the pier, enjoy the beach, get something to eat, or shop at one of the retail shops.

Hermosa Beach is a wide, long white sand beach. It can get pretty busy on weekends and holidays or when public events such as Volleyball tournaments or festivals such as Fiesta Hermosa take place. There are public restrooms. There are no concession stands on the beach, but there are plenty of places to eat, especially near the Pier. There are also numerous volleyball nets set up on the beach so bring a volleyball and some friends and get a game going!

The area at Pier Avenue and The Strand gets pretty crowded as there are many retail shops and restaurants in this location. Hennessey's Tavern, Watermans, Project Taco, Baja Sharkeez, and Cantina Real are located here to grab a bite. If you take a short walk up to Hermosa Avenue, there are more places to choose from to eat such as Zanes, Paisano Pizza, and the Pita Pit. Also, if you need cash at an ATM, Bank of America, Chase, and Citibank are located here.
