Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is just South of Seal Beach in Orange County. The beach covers just over 1 mile in distance and there is free parking in the 2 lots at Warner Avenue at North and South Pacific Avenue and free parking spots along North and South Pacific Avenue. Additional free parking is available on PCH. There are showers and bathrooms available near the Warner Avenue entrance - they are part of Bolsa Chica State Beach. Additional buildings for bathrooms are located on the islands between North and South Pacific Avenue. No concession stands on the beach, however, you have plenty of places to eat nearby such as Jack in the Box, Subway, Secret Spot, and there is a Circle K convenience store to pick up goodies and drinks.

The beach here is wide and sandy. The crowds are not as big as the ones that you will find at Huntington or Newport as it is in a quiet area and it is not visible from Pacific Coast Highway. The limited parking also helps keep the crowds down. There are a good amount of tiny, broken sea shell pieces in the sand, so you may want to wear flip flops or other shoes when walking out to the beach. There are also whole shells that you can find near the water. When entering the water, always do the "stingray shuffle" to scare off any rays hidden near the shore in shallow water. Shuffling out into the surf rather than walking into it will help you avoid getting stung by a "hidden" stingray.

This picture one of the parking lots shows just how limited the parking can get through Sunset Beach. The lots are small and since it is free, they can fill up quickly.
