Huntington Dog Beach

Huntington Dog Beach is located within the City owned portion of Huntington Beach between 21st Street to Seapoint Street where Bolsa Chica State Beach begins. There are 2 parking lots available between Goldenwest Street and Seapoint Street. Metered parking is $1.50 per hour or $15.00 all day. Owners keep their dogs on a leash down to the beach and then unleash them once on the beach to play in the surf and run on the sand.. First time dog visitors usually keep their dogs on leash to get used to being on a beach with other pups playing and chasing each other around. There are dog water fountains and plenty or dog bags available to use to pick up any "accidents" that your dog may have while visiting the dog beach. The dog beach amenities are provided by the non profit organization Preservation Society of Huntington Dog Beach through donations and sponsors. More information about this organization is available at

Events - Various events take place throughout the year at the Dog Beach. The Annual Surf City Surf Dog 3 day event occurs in late September. It includes a Dog Fashion Show, 2 day Expo, and a Surf Dog competition. Registration for this event is available at Pets and owners can prepare for the event by getting doggie surfing lessons from SoCalSurfDogs. Another event that takes place each season is Corgi Beach Day, where all of the Corgi lovers bring their pups down to the beach for the Cheese Toss, Corgi Surfing, and a big group photo. The event takes place each Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

Other features of the beach include a nice pedestrian path along the bluffs of the beach where you can walk your dog. Next to it is the Huntington Beach Bike Path where you could rollerblade with your dog. There are picnic tables and benches where you could eat. Unfortunately, there are no Firepits located along this portion of the beach, so there is no BBQing allowed on the beach (BBQs are only allowed where the firepits are). There are porta potty restrooms on the beach. There are no concession stands or restaurants along the Dog Beach either.

While the Dog Beach lacks a few amenities, it is a great place to bring your dog and have a wonderful day in the sun and in the water at Huntington Beach.
