Enter through the gate located in the northeast corner of the parking lot behind Alkawater/Gordon's Market, in the 300 block of Culver Blvd. in Playa del Rey. 2017-10-08 Salt Marsh and Dunes Interpretive Tour 1 pm - 3 pm. Free. An informative nature tour of the salt marsh and dunes. Learn about our coastal ecosystem and explore the Ballona Wetlands. 2017-10-14 Freshwater Marsh Tour - Ballona Wetlands 10 am - 11 am. Free guided tour of freshwater marsh, birds and native plants. Meet at South side of Jefferson Blvd near Lincoln Blvd. Visit ballonafriends.org for more info.
2017-10-15 Ballona Wetlands Bird Walk 8 am - 12 pm. Walk through L.A.s only remaining saltwater marsh and the adjacent rocky jetty. Meet at the Del Rey Lagoon parking lot. Marina Fwy (90) to Culver Blvd and turn left for a mile. Turn right on Pacific Ave. The lot is on the right. Lot or street parking is usually not a problem. 3 hour walk. 2017-10-21 Beginner Birding & Creek Cleanup 9 am - 11:30 am. Ballona Creek Wetlands. Some casual birding and a little bit of community service in a beautiful setting . Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Closed toed shoes required. 2017-01-01 thru 2017-12-31 Shore Fishing at Dockweiler Beach Free. 9 am - 10:30 am every Saturday at Dockweiler Youth Center, 12505 Vista del Mar. Dept of Beaches & Harbors Free Intro shore fishing class. Limited to 10 Participants per session - Please call to pre-register: 310-726-4128. Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is $2. *Anyone over the age of 16 must present a valid CA Fishing License to participate. Fishing Licenses can be purchased locally at Marina del Rey Sportfishing - 13759 Fiji Way Marina del Rey or West Marina - 13555 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey or purchased online at www.dfg.ca.gov.
2017-01-01 thru 2017-12-31 Make It & Take It - Kids Craft Class Free 10 am - 11 am every Saturday. Dockweiler Youth Center, 12505 Vista del Mar. Come sit by the ocean at Dockweiler Beach to learn, enjoy, and make a craft project. For kids 0 - 12 yrs. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. No advance registration needed.
