Manhattan Beach Bike Path
The Manhattan Beach portion of the bike path starts at 45th Street just South of the Hyperion Treatment Plant and Chevron Plant. The ride between Playa Del Rey and this point can be pretty tough, so if you want to park your bike and grab a bite to eat at the Surf Food Stand here, they have bike parking for you. This might be a good time to hydrate and re-apply sunblock. The parking here is limited and requires either coins (quarters) or a debit card.

Bike Tour - If you are looking for a guided tour through Manhattan Beach, Beach Cities Bike Tours is the only guided tour along The Strand in the South Bay. Bring your own bike - either one you own or rent locally from the many locations in Manhattan Beach. The rate for the tour is $25/hr for up to 4 in a group. Slightly more for larger parties. Contact Kevin Wilkerson @ 310-990-4020 or email kwilkersn@aol.com or visit the Beach Cities Bike Tours Facebook page for more info.
The Bike Path through Manhattan Beach is separated from the pedestrians and joggers who have their own sidewalk parallel and above the bike path on The Strand. You will pass by Volleyball Nets and people enjoying the cool breezes and ocean surf all along the ride. If there are any events happening in the area, such a Pro Volleyball or Surfing competition, the beach can get pretty crowded.

As you approach the Manhattan Beach Pier, there may be signs that instruct you to walk your bike. If the sign is up, be sure to get off of your bike or face getting a ticket by the police there. The ticket is expensive (> $100). There is a sign on the other side of the pier that will let you know when you can get back on and begin riding again.
