Huntington City Beach Bike Path
The 3.4 mile Huntington City Beach section of the Bike Path runs from Beach Blvd to Seapoint Street where Bolsa Chica State Beach begins. This section of the beach path is pretty crowded with pedestrians in the Pier area with its many restaurants and eateries. It is also crowded along Dog Beach with many people walking their dogs along the path or down to this special beach dedicated to letting the dogs to play on their own beach. There are signs posted letting cyclists know that they can proceed at 5 mph if there are pedestrians present with a 10 mph maximum speed. Also, there are lights on posts near the Pier location that will flash. When they are on, you must walk your bike through this short section or face getting ticketed. You may want to stop here anyway and visit this location near the pier - park & lock your bike, and look around at the boardwalk and possibly take a stroll on the pier and take in the fantastic views of the ocean and beach.
Huntington Beach Pier Bike Path
The path goes past the pier and circles around a small condo complex and takes you up to the bluffs above the beach where you can see surfers in the water and the dogs playing in the ocean down on the Dog Beach. You will ride along a pretty path with great views of the ocean with palm trees and a well maintained lawn on either side. There aren't any concessions along this part of the path, but there are porta-potties down near the bluffs at the beach.
Cycling Through HB Dog Park
While riding in the area of the Dog Beach, be watchful of children, pedestrians, and dogs walking along the path or crossing over from the street parking to get across the bike path and down to the beach. The grassy areas and picnic benches make a nice place to stop and people watch, too.

Bike Path South of Huntington Beach Pier
As you approach Seapoint Street, you will be leaving the Huntington Beach Bike Path section and heading over through Bolsa Chica State Beach or you can turn around and head back from here. If you continue, it is just a short ride to the bridge that goes over Bolsa Bay which offers a nice view of surfers in the water and fisherman casting lines from the rocks where the bay pours out into the ocean.
